What Are Psychoeducational Assessments?

Psychoeducational Assessments are a focused and effective way to provide insights into your child’s learning style, strengths, and areas needing support. They help us understand how your child processes information, learns new skills, and interacts with their environment. Through an evaluation, we can identify specific challenges your child may face, such as difficulties with attention, reading, or social interactions.

Additionally, assessments help us clarify diagnoses like ADHD, autism, learning disabilities, or giftedness, providing a roadmap for tailored interventions and support. By doing an evaluation we can make sure you or your child get consistent support to help you or your child thrive in school and in life.

How A Psychoeducational Assessment Can Help

We use assessments to pinpoint where your child excels and where they may struggle. Understanding these aspects helps us tailor interventions and support strategies to best meet their needs.

Through an evaluation, we gain comprehensive insights into your child’s cognitive, academic, and behavioral functioning. This information guides us in creating a personalized treatment plan that addresses their unique needs and goals.

Assessments help clarify diagnoses like ADHD, autism, learning disabilities, and giftedness. They provide a deeper understanding of your child’s neurodevelopmental profile, guiding our therapeutic interventions and educational accommodations.

Assessments inform decisions about your child’s educational placement, accommodations, interventions, and overall educational planning, ensuring that their unique needs are addressed and supported in school.

Assessments serve as benchmarks to measure your child’s progress over time and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions. They provide objective data to track improvements, adjust our treatment plans, and celebrate your child’s achievements.

When you’re ready to become the parent you have always wanted to be, we’re here to help you take the first step.

Why Us

Why Work With
Integrated Behavioral Health

.

I believe therapy & assessments should be a collaborative process between the client and the therapist.

At Integrated Behavioral Health, our goal is to help families feel more confident and to have the resources they need. We support you in riding the ups and downs of parenting, while helping you navigate the complex landscape of having a child with unique needs.

When you’re facing anxiety or uncertainty about how to parent effectively, it can be overwhelming to balance all the competing priorities. You might struggle to find a parenting approach that aligns with your values and helps you feel connected and capable. We’re here to help you understand and meet your child’s unique needs while staying true to yourself.

We support the emotional well-being of parents as individuals too. This includes stress management, identity shifts, relationship strain, and burnout. When caregivers feel supported and grounded, the entire family benefits.

With over a decade of combined experience, we offer therapy and evaluations that are grounded in evidence-based practices, collaborate with professionals and individuals working with your child, and provide comprehensive recommendations to help you or your child thrive. We guide you through handling the toughest challenges, providing you with practical tools and strategies that foster confidence and fulfillment in your journey.

We believe the therapeutic process should be:

Empathetic

Being a parent can feel overwhelming, especially with the flood of information from social media and parenting books. We meet you and your child exactly where you are and offer compassion and empathy to help you move forward.

Evidence-based

Our diverse therapy methods and assessments are all rooted in evidence-based practices. Our goal is to help you and your child make tangible progress and feel empowered to navigate daily life confidently, even beyond therapy.

Values-based

Every family, child, and parent are different. What is okay for one parent is not okay for another parent. We make sure that we understand your family’s values and come alongside to support them rather than prescribing one type of approach to a situation.

Our Approach

How Psychoeducational Assessments Work

We Get To Know You

Understanding your and your child’s history, experiences, and challenges is the first step to building a relationship based on trust and connection. We want to hear your story.

We Create A Plan

We gather questionnaires & observations from parents, teachers, & other professionals who work with your child to get a better understanding of their needs. Testing usually takes place over a 2 day period.

We Help You Move Forward

We integrate our findings and feedback into a comprehensive report that can be referenced at any time. We go through the report, as well as our recommendations with you in a feedback session.

Questions About Psychoeducational Assessments

The cost of an assessment depends on the number of areas of concerns and the time it will take to complete the evaluation. School entry/IQ-only testing is $500. More in-depth testing ranges from $1500 to $4600.

The complete process is usually 1 month. Parent intake, testing, report writing, and feedback.

The evaluation will help us better understand your individual child’s pattern of strengths and weaknesses. We provide recommendations and “next steps” following the evaluation process. Additionally, we are always happy to meet with teachers, IEP teams, or 504 Plan teams after the evaluation so they can integrate the feedback into school.

Not necessarily in a public school setting. However, it will help schools with their own process. Schools have specific criteria as well as state and federal laws they need to meet for a child to qualify for an IEP. Having an outside evaluation can sometimes speed up the process, but it does not necessarily guarantee an IEP. For a private school, an outside evaluation can help your child receive an appropriate education plan or provide evidence for you to be able to bring a tutor into the school.

Not necessarily. Sometimes children come and see us for concerns related to a learning disability or ADHD, for example, and they may not meet the criteria. For instance, a child may be slightly behind in reading but it does not meet the threshold for a specific learning disorder. However, we can provide recommendations for how to strengthen areas. Additionally, your child may have some of the characteristics of ASD or ADHD but not receive the diagnosis. Regardless, we will always provide recommendations for your child’s specific needs.
