What is OCD & Anxiety Treatment?

OCD & Anxiety Treatment is designed to help individuals of all ages navigate and manage anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and related conditions like social anxiety, generalized anxiety disorder, and trichotillomania.

For children and teens, therapy provides a safe space to express their worries, process anxious thoughts, and learn coping strategies to manage distress. We use engaging, age-appropriate techniques—such as play, storytelling, and interactive exercises—to make therapy approachable and effective.

For young adults and adults, OCD & Anxiety Treatment focuses on identifying the patterns that keep anxiety and OCD in control. Through structured approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), we help you challenge intrusive thoughts, resist compulsions, and reduce avoidance behaviors that reinforce anxiety.

At Integrated Behavioral Health, our therapists use evidence-based treatments tailored to your unique needs, ensuring you or your child receive the most effective support for long-term success.

How OCD & Anxiety Treatment Can Help

Anxiety can feel like it takes over everything—your thoughts, your body, and even your ability to enjoy daily life. Whether it’s generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, or phobias, therapy helps you or your child recognize anxious thought patterns and develop strategies to manage worry, face fears, and engage in life with greater confidence.

OCD can make it feel like you have to follow certain rituals or routines just to find relief from intrusive thoughts—but that relief never lasts. Using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)—the gold-standard approach for OCD—we help you or your child gradually face fears while resisting compulsive behaviors. Over time, this weakens OCD’s hold and helps you regain control.

When anxiety or OCD makes something feel scary, avoiding it seems like the best way to cope. But avoidance only makes fears stronger. Through exposure therapy, we help you or your child gently confront fears in a safe, supportive way—building confidence and making once-intimidating situations feel more manageable.
Many people with OCD feel deep guilt and shame over their intrusive thoughts and compulsions, worrying that their thoughts mean something to them. OCD & Anxiety Treatment in therapy provides a compassionate space to challenge these negative beliefs, separate thoughts from identity, and build self-compassion. You are not your anxiety or OCD, and you don’t have to navigate it alone.
When a child is struggling with anxiety or OCD, parents often feel overwhelmed or unsure of how to help without making things worse. We offer Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) and PCIT-Calm, giving caregivers the tools to support their child without reinforcing anxious behaviors. You don’t have to figure this out alone—we’re here to help.
Anxiety and OCD don’t disappear overnight, but with the right tools, they no longer have to control your life. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), therapy helps you or your child tolerate uncertainty, manage distress, and build confidence in your ability to handle challenges—now and in the future.

When you’re ready to become the parent you have always wanted to be, we’re here to help you take the first step.

Integrated Behavioral Health

.

I believe therapy & assessments should be a collaborative process between the client and the therapist.

At Integrated Behavioral Health, our goal is to help families feel more confident and to have the resources they need. We support you in riding the ups and downs of parenting, while helping you navigate the complex landscape of having a child with unique needs.

We guide you through handling the toughest challenges, providing you with practical tools and strategies that foster confidence and fulfillment in your journey.

We believe the therapeutic process should be:

Empathetic

Being a parent can feel overwhelming, especially with the flood of information from social media and parenting books. We meet you and your child exactly where you are and offer compassion and empathy to help you move forward.

Evidence-based

Our diverse therapy methods and assessments are all rooted in evidence-based practices. Our goal is to help you and your child make tangible progress and feel empowered to navigate daily life confidently, even beyond therapy.

Values-based

Every family, child, and parent are different. What is okay for one parent is not okay for another parent. We make sure that we understand your family’s values and come alongside to support them rather than prescribing one type of approach to a situation.

Questions About OCD & Anxiety Treatment

It’s understandable to wonder about that. Many childhood behaviors can mimic anxiety or OCD, and it’s important to distinguish between typical development and something more serious. We’ll conduct a thorough assessment, including interviews, questionnaires, and observations, to determine whether your child’s symptoms align with OCD or an anxiety disorder. This helps us understand if it’s persistent and causing significant distress or impairment. Even if it’s not a diagnosable disorder, we can still explore strategies to help your child manage their worries and develop healthy coping mechanisms.

Seeking support when your child is struggling is a sign of strength. There’s no shame in asking for help, and early intervention can be very beneficial. Some indicators that professional help might be needed include:

  • Significant distress
  • Avoidance of activities
  • Changes in sleep or appetite
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Physical symptoms
  • Expressing worries that interfere with their daily life.

Trust your instincts. If you’re concerned, it’s always best to consult with a professional. We can assess your child and provide guidance on the best course of action.

At Integrated Behavioral Health, we use evidence-based therapy. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is often very effective for anxiety and OCD in children. It teaches coping skills, challenges unhelpful thoughts, and involves gradual exposure to feared situations. We’ll tailor the therapy and OCD & Anxiety Treatment to your child’s specific needs, age, and preferences. This might involve play, art, or family therapy in addition to CBT.
Your role is crucial in supporting your child’s recovery. We’ll work together to develop strategies you can implement at home. This might include creating a calm and predictable environment, validating their feelings, practicing relaxation techniques together, and encouraging them to face their fears gradually. We can recommend books, websites, or support groups that offer additional information and guidance as well!
As with most things, it depends. Sometimes it is helpful to meet weekly to gain momentum and create a strong relationship. However, we also understand that you’re busy! If coming in every other week is the only thing that will work with your schedule we can be flexiblThe duration of therapy varies depending on the severity of the anxiety or OCD, individual progress, and other factors. It’s often a gradual process with ups and downs. Consistency and active participation in therapy are key to success. We’ll regularly monitor progress and adjust the treatment plan as needed. The goal is to equip your child with the skills and resilience to manage their anxiety or OCD effectively throughout their life.e 🙂
