Lessen the grip of Anxiety & OCD

Feel more confident facing fears

Build trust in your own mind & choices

Avoiding fear makes life smaller.

Kids want to play and feel normal, but the fear gets too loud, and they shrink back. Teens and young adults want to be able to focus enough to study or go on a date without analyzing every conversation. As an adult, you do your best to show up for your family, job, and relationships, but your mind keeps cycling through intrusive thoughts that make it difficult to function. And at the heart of it, the struggle is universal. You’re tired of fear getting in the way of the life you’re trying to live.

Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP) helps your world open up again, one step at a time.

What is Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP)?

ERP stands for Exposure and Response Prevention. It’s known as the most effective treatment for OCD, and it’s also incredibly helpful for anxiety, panic disorder, selective mutism, social anxiety, and all kinds of phobias. If fear has been running the show, ERP is the therapy that helps you take the wheel back.

ERP therapy works by helping your brain learn a new pattern. When anxiety shows up, most people try to calm it with reassurance, avoiding certain situations, or doing rituals that feel necessary in the moment. ERP teaches your brain a different response. With small, guided steps, you slowly face the things that scare you while practicing not falling into the usual compulsions. Over time, your brain learns that the alarm doesn’t need to go off so loudly, and the fear starts to settle.

ERP therapy is part of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), but it’s a lot more hands-on. You won’t sit and talk in circles. You’ll learn real tools that actually make a difference in your day, and you’ll practice them in simple, doable steps that build confidence as you go.

Whether you’re dealing with OCD, panic, or the constant drain of worrying about everything, ERP meets you exactly where you’re at. At Integrated Behavioral Health, we shape the process around your unique fears and patterns so you can slowly reclaim your time, your calm, and your ability to live in a way that feels like you again.

How Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP) Can Help

ERP therapy gives you simple tools that help you stop getting swept up in fear. You learn how to ride the wave instead of getting pulled under it, and that alone brings relief faster than most people expect.

Compulsions feel urgent. They feel important. They feel like the only way to calm the panic. ERP therapy helps you practice stepping back from those urges so your brain learns it doesn’t need to hit the alarm button anymore. Bit by bit, the urge fades, and you start feeling more in control.

ERP therapy helps you get back to a place where your own memory, instincts, and choices feel steady again. You stop needing to double-check everything, and you start feeling that quiet sense of “I know what’s true” come back online.

ERP therapy helps you face scary situations in small, doable steps. Nothing forced. Nothing rushed. You build skills that make speaking up, showing up, and staying present feel easier with time.

When fear stops calling the shots, your world opens up. You have the space to enjoy friends, try new things, be more present with your family, and feel more like the version of yourself you want to be.

Why Us

Why Work With
Integrated Behavioral Health

.

I believe therapy & assessments should be a collaborative process between the client and the therapist.

At Integrated Behavioral Health, our goal is to help families feel more confident and to have the resources they need. We support you in riding the ups and downs of parenting, while helping you navigate the complex landscape of having a child with unique needs.

When you’re facing anxiety or uncertainty about how to parent effectively, it can be overwhelming to balance all the competing priorities. You might struggle to find a parenting approach that aligns with your values and helps you feel connected and capable. We’re here to help you understand and meet your child’s unique needs while staying true to yourself.

We support the emotional well-being of parents as individuals too. This includes stress management, identity shifts, relationship strain, and burnout. When caregivers feel supported and grounded, the entire family benefits.

With over a decade of combined experience, we offer therapy and evaluations that are grounded in evidence-based practices, collaborate with professionals and individuals working with your child, and provide comprehensive recommendations to help you or your child thrive. We guide you through handling the toughest challenges, providing you with practical tools and strategies that foster confidence and fulfillment in your journey.

We believe the therapeutic process should be:

Empathetic

Being a parent can feel overwhelming, especially with the flood of information from social media and parenting books. We meet you and your child exactly where you are and offer compassion and empathy to help you move forward.

Evidence-based

Our diverse therapy methods and assessments are all rooted in evidence-based practices. Our goal is to help you and your child make tangible progress and feel empowered to navigate daily life confidently, even beyond therapy.

Values-based

Every family, child, and parent are different. What is okay for one parent is not okay for another parent. We make sure that we understand your family’s values and come alongside to support them rather than prescribing one type of approach to a situation.

Our Approach

How Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP) Works

Step 1: We Get To Know You

We start by listening and learning how anxiety or OCD shows up in your daily life. This helps us understand your patterns and build a plan that actually fits what you need.

Step 2: We Create Your Exposure Plan Together

Together, we create a simple, step-by-step plan that fits your life and helps you face fears in small, manageable ways while practicing how to resist the rituals that keep the cycle going.

Step 3: We Help You Keep Moving Forward

As you grow more confident, we help you apply these skills in everyday situations so the progress sticks. Parents learn how to support their kids without reinforcing anxiety, and adults learn long-term tools to stay steady and handle future triggers with more ease.

Questions About Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP)

ERP is a proven, research-backed therapy for OCD and anxiety, and it works a little differently than traditional talk therapy. Instead of digging into why you have certain thoughts, we focus on changing how you respond to them.

At Integrated Behavioral Health, we guide you through small, gradual exposures to the thoughts, situations, or feelings that trigger your anxiety. At the same time, we help you practice resisting the rituals or behaviors that usually follow. This teaches your brain that the thoughts are not dangerous and that the anxiety will settle on its own. Over time, this creates a calmer, more flexible response to fear.

This is one of the most common concerns we hear, and it makes total sense. ERP asks you to do something new, and new things feel uncomfortable at first. The good news is that we take it step by step.

We never start with your biggest fear. Together, we build a simple ladder of challenges, beginning with the smallest, most doable step. As you practice, your confidence grows. Yes, your anxiety may rise during an exposure, but that rise teaches your brain something powerful: the feeling fades, and the disaster you fear doesn’t happen. This is how the fear response begins to shrink, giving you more peace in the long run.

No. ERP is not an all-or-nothing approach. You won’t be asked to ditch every ritual overnight.

Instead, we work with you to identify the rituals that take up the most time or create the most stress. Then we help you gradually reduce them during exposures. The goal is not perfection. The goal is to help you feel more in control so you can choose how you respond, rather than feeling forced by anxiety or OCD. Even small changes in rituals can create big shifts in daily life.

ERP is meant to be short-term and effective. Most people complete treatment in about 12 to 25 sessions, depending on how severe the symptoms are and how much practice they’re able to do between sessions.

The goal at Integrated Behavioral Health is to help you become your own therapist. Once you understand how the cycle works and how to interrupt it, you’ll have long-lasting tools you can use whenever new fears pop up. You won’t be in therapy forever. You’ll be building skills that stick.

Yes. Many people do ERP alongside medication, and the two can work really well together.

Medication can soften the intensity of anxiety or intrusive thoughts, which sometimes makes exposures feel more manageable. At IBH, we’re happy to coordinate with your prescriber so everyone supporting you is on the same page. Our goal is simple: to help you feel steady, supported, and confident as you move through the process.
