Autism therapy can help you or your child:

Feel calmer and more regulated at home, school, or work

Build real social connections without the pressure to pretend

Grow confidence and be proud of your neurodivergent identity

When the world keeps asking you to be someone you're not.

You want your child to feel understood. Or maybe you’re quietly wishing someone understood you. Instead, it feels like you’re always on alert, preparing for what might set things off. Worried you’ll be embarrassed or overwhelmed.

Autism therapy gives you space to exhale. It helps your child feel safer in their body and helps you feel steadier in yours.

What is Autism Therapy?

Autism therapy is a space where you or your child can finally show up as you are, without the pressure to mask, perform, or explain yourself to someone who just doesn’t quite get it. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is not a problem to be fixed. It is a different neurotype, a different way of processing the world, and that difference deserves to be understood rather than suppressed. We tailor every ASD therapy session to the way your brain actually works, not the way the world expects it to.

Our autism therapists use a range of evidence-based approaches, including adapted Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, sensory-informed strategies, social connection work, and parent coaching. For younger children, that might look like play, movement, or interactive games. For teens and adults, it might look like unpacking anxiety, exploring identity, or building the self-advocacy skills to navigate work, relationships, and everyday life with more confidence and less exhaustion.

Whether your child is melting down in ways you don’t yet understand, or you’re an adult who has spent years quietly wondering why everything feels so much harder for you than for everyone else, we want to help you get beneath the surface to what is actually going on. Because when you understand the why, everything starts to shift.

At Integrated Behavioral Health, we work with kids, teens, young adults, adults, couples, and families. Our goal is simple: we want every autistic person we work with to walk away feeling like their brain makes sense, and like they have the tools to build a life that truly does fit them.

If you or your child is moving through:

We provide a steady, neuro-affirming space and practical autism support to help you and your family understand what’s happening beneath the surface. Visit us in Denver, Greenwood Village or online anywhere in Colorado. Serving surrounding communities.

How Autism Therapy Can Help

Whether we are working with a child or an adult, we start with the same question: “What is the nervous system actually trying to do here?” Every behavior, every shutdown, every moment of overwhelm has a reason. When we understand the sensory triggers, the communication gaps, or the anxiety driving the struggle, we stop trying to manage the surface and start addressing the actual need. This is where real, lasting change begins.

Traditional social skills training often teaches autistic people to mask, to force eye contact and follow scripts so that others feel more comfortable. This tends to lead to burnout, anxiety, and a deep sense of performing a version of yourself rather than actually living. Our approach in autism therapy focuses on social connection rooted in genuine interest. We work on perspective-taking as a two-way street, help you or your child find communities where neurodivergence is an asset, and build the confidence to communicate needs honestly rather than performing comfort you do not feel.

For kids, this often means helping the whole family learn co-regulation, so that a parent’s calm nervous system can serve as an anchor during a meltdown. For adults, it means identifying the specific sensory and situational triggers that drain your energy and building a lifestyle that works with your neurotype rather than against it. Both paths lead to the same place: fewer crisis moments and more room to actually enjoy your life.

For kids, we help them move from feeling like a problem to feeling like a person with a brain worth understanding. For autistic adults, this work often goes even deeper. Many adults come to us after a late diagnosis or a lifetime of wondering why everything felt so much harder for them than for everyone else. Therapy becomes a space to grieve what masking has cost you, understand yourself without shame, and figure out how to advocate for your needs in relationships, workplaces, and the world.

When a child is struggling, the whole family feels it. We offer targeted parent coaching to help you become your child’s co-regulation partner, understand what their inner world looks like, and respond in the hard moments rather than react. We also support couples and families navigating the relational dynamics that come with autism, including partners where one or both people are autistic, and families adjusting to a new diagnosis at any age.

When you’re ready to become the parent you have always wanted to be, we’re here to help you take the first step.

Why Us

Why Work With
Integrated Behavioral Health

.

I believe therapy & assessments should be a collaborative process between the client and the therapist.

At Integrated Behavioral Health, our goal is to help families feel more confident and to have the resources they need. We support you in riding the ups and downs of parenting, while helping you navigate the complex landscape of having a child with unique needs.

When you’re facing anxiety or uncertainty about how to parent effectively, it can be overwhelming to balance all the competing priorities. You might struggle to find a parenting approach that aligns with your values and helps you feel connected and capable. We’re here to help you understand and meet your child’s unique needs while staying true to yourself.

We support the emotional well-being of parents as individuals too. This includes stress management, identity shifts, relationship strain, and burnout. When caregivers feel supported and grounded, the entire family benefits.

With over a decade of combined experience, we offer therapy and evaluations that are grounded in evidence-based practices, collaborate with professionals and individuals working with your child, and provide comprehensive recommendations to help you or your child thrive. We guide you through handling the toughest challenges, providing you with practical tools and strategies that foster confidence and fulfillment in your journey.

We believe the therapeutic process should be:

Empathetic

Being a parent can feel overwhelming, especially with the flood of information from social media and parenting books. We meet you and your child exactly where you are and offer compassion and empathy to help you move forward.

Evidence-based

Our diverse therapy methods and assessments are all rooted in evidence-based practices. Our goal is to help you and your child make tangible progress and feel empowered to navigate daily life confidently, even beyond therapy.

Values-based

Every family, child, and parent are different. What is okay for one parent is not okay for another parent. We make sure that we understand your family’s values and come alongside to support them rather than prescribing one type of approach to a situation.

Our Approach

How Autism Therapy Works

We Get To Know You

We meet with you, your child, or both to understand your sensory profile, communication style, and the specific challenges that are making daily life harder than it needs to be. This is the foundation for building a relationship based on trust, curiosity, and genuine understanding.

We Create A Plan

We work to understand your unique neurotype and what your nervous system needs. Together, we build an approach that makes sense for how your brain actually works, not how the world expects it to.

We Help You Move Forward

Each session is a stepping stone toward feeling more regulated, more understood, and more confident in your own brain. We adjust the plan as you grow, building on the tools and strategies we have been working on together.

Questions About Autism Therapy

In our practice, we don’t treat autism as a set of symptoms to eliminate. We treat the environment and the internal experience. For kids, that means we don’t force eye contact or try to quiet stimming that helps them regulate. For adults, it means we won’t ask you to just push through or perform comfort you don’t feel. If something is hard, we want to understand why, not train you out of it.

Therapy here is genuinely for you. Many of our adult clients come in after a late diagnosis, or after years of sensing something was different without having language for it. For adults, we focus on unpacking the cost of years of masking, understanding your sensory and social needs without shame, building practical self-advocacy skills for work and relationships, and figuring out what a life that fits your neurotype can look like. You don’t have to keep adapting yourself to a world that was not built for you without any support.

Environmental fit is a real priority for us. Autism therapy sessions are often movement-based or play-based, and we adjust the space to meet your child’s needs, whether that is dimmer lighting, a weighted lap pad, or the freedom to move around while they process. We often use a consultative model where we spend time with your child to build trust, then check in with you to help translate what we are observing so you can understand and respond to your child at home.

Your child does not need to be able to sit in a chair to start with us. Honestly, if they can’t sit in a chair, that is exactly where we begin. We don’t require any prerequisite skills. Our job is to adapt our clinical tools to meet your child’s current developmental and sensory profile.

If they are in the room and engaging in any way, even if it’s simply playing with a sensory toy in the corner while we talk, we are already doing the work of building safety and connection.

If you are not sure where to start, we invite you to book a free consultation. We can get to know you, hear a little about your child, and help you figure out whether this feels like the right fit.

This is one of our most common questions, and our answer might surprise you. Traditional social skills training often focuses on teaching autistic people to mask, to act more neurotypical, so that others feel comfortable. This tends to lead to burnout and anxiety over time, for kids and adults alike.

Instead, we focus on social connection and self-advocacy. We work on perspective-taking as a two-way street, helping your child understand others while also helping others understand your child. We help them find communities where being neurodivergent is an asset. And we teach them how to say something like, “I’m overwhelmed right now and need a break,” which is a far more valuable life skill than simply acting the way they feel expected to.
